Getting Started

How do I download and install Scrivar?

Visit scrivar.com/download and download the installer for your operating system (Windows or macOS). Once downloaded, run the installer and follow the setup wizard. On first launch, you'll be prompted to enter your registration code. If you don't have one yet, you can try the 14-day free trial with all features unlocked.
What are the system requirements?

Windows: Windows 10 or later, 4GB RAM minimum (8GB recommended), 500MB free disk space
macOS: macOS 10.13 or later, 4GB RAM minimum (8GB recommended), 500MB free disk space
Scrivar works offline — you don't need an internet connection to use it (though internet is required for cloud storage features and automatic updates).
What's included in the free version?

Scrivar doesn't have a free version, but we offer a 14-day free trial with all Pro features included. No credit card required. After the trial ends, you can purchase a license to continue using the app forever. We also offer a Lite tier ($49) with basic features if you don't need everything.

Licensing

How do I activate my license?

When you first launch Scrivar, you'll see the activation screen. Enter your registration code and click "Activate." The code is either on your Amazon purchase receipt (physical card or email) or in your email if you purchased directly from us. For more help, visit scrivar.com/activate.
Can I use my code on multiple devices?

Each registration code can be activated on one device at a time. If you want to use Scrivar on multiple computers, you can deactivate it on one device and activate it on another, or purchase additional licenses. We also offer license transfers for free if you're replacing or upgrading your computer.
How do I transfer my license to a new computer?

You can request a license transfer using the form below. We'll deactivate your license on the old device and reactivate it on the new one. License transfers are processed within 24 hours. You can also deactivate manually from Settings > License, then install and activate on your new computer.
What's the difference between Lite and Pro?

Lite ($49): View, merge, split, compress, convert images, sign, fill forms, basic annotations, protect/unlock
Pro ($70): Everything in Lite, plus text & image editing, advanced annotations, invoice builder, batch processing, watermark, crop, page numbers, redact, flatten, OCR, and Word/Excel/PowerPoint conversion
Choose based on your needs. Most small business owners prefer Pro for the invoice builder and OCR alone.
Can I upgrade from Lite to Pro?

Yes! If you bought Lite and want to upgrade to Pro, you can purchase a Pro license for a discounted upgrade price (usually $29–39). Contact [email protected] with your Lite code and we'll help you upgrade.

What file formats can Scrivar convert?

Supported conversions: PDF ↔ JPG/PNG/TIFF, PDF → Word/Excel/PowerPoint (Pro only), Word/Excel/PowerPoint → PDF (Pro only)
Scrivar uses industry-standard conversion engines to ensure accuracy. All conversions happen on your computer — nothing is uploaded to our servers.
Does Scrivar work offline?

Yes! Scrivar is designed to work entirely offline. All PDF processing, editing, conversion, and OCR happens on your computer. You only need an internet connection to activate your license initially and for optional cloud storage features. No documents are ever uploaded to our servers.
How do I create invoices?

Pro users can access the Invoice Builder from the main menu. It provides a simple form to enter your business info, line items, tax, discounts, and payment terms. Scrivar generates a professional PDF instantly with automatic calculations. You can customize colors and save templates for reuse.
Does Scrivar have cloud storage?

Cloud storage is available as an optional subscription add-on (not included with the base app). Both Lite and Pro users can subscribe to 5GB ($2.99/mo) or 50GB ($5.99/mo) plans. Files sync across your devices and you can share documents with others via shareable links.

Troubleshooting

My activation code isn't working. What should I do?

Common issues:
1. Make sure you're entering the code exactly as shown (including hyphens)
2. Check that the code hasn't already been activated on another device
3. Ensure you're using the correct registration code (not a different one)
4. Restart the app and try again
If it still doesn't work, email us at [email protected] with your code and receipt, and we'll help you activate it manually.
The app won't open or keeps crashing on launch. What do I do?

Try these steps:
1. Restart your computer
2. Uninstall Scrivar (Settings > Apps on Windows, Applications folder on Mac) and reinstall from scrivar.com/download
3. Check that you meet the system requirements (Windows 10+ or macOS 10.13+)
4. Make sure you have at least 500MB free disk space
If the problem persists, contact [email protected] with your OS and version number, and we'll investigate.
My PDF looks different after I edited it. Is that normal?

PDFs can render slightly differently depending on the viewer. Some fonts, colors, or layout may appear slightly different in different applications. If text is missing, images are corrupted, or content has shifted significantly, please contact [email protected] with the file and a screenshot of the problem, and we'll help troubleshoot.
How do I uninstall Scrivar?

Windows: Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find "Scrivar," click it, and select "Uninstall."
macOS: Open Applications folder, drag Scrivar to Trash, empty Trash.
Your documents won't be deleted — only the app is removed. Your license will be deactivated automatically.
